I absoluely agree with Vap on this one. Its a fine, fine caliber. Had it came out first, we may have never seen the 270. Not to say that the 270 is not a great cartridge but the 280 has more available bullets and a wider range of bullet weights. For a short time Remington also named it the 7MM-06. They dropped all reference to the 7MM because people confused the ammo with the 7MM Remington Mag. Mant blew up rifles buy firing 280 shells in the 7 Mag. The cases would rupture.
