I have both and would have to say that the Ruger #1 is definitely heavier. It might be better suited for cartridges with more recoil but on the other hand I have my Encore with a 350 Rem. Mag barrel and a 7mm Rem. Mag and have no problem shooting them. They both have there advantage and disadvantage. The Encore is nice and short even with a 26” barrel. The Ruger feels more like the old traditional rifle but the Encore has more of a different design that I like. As for shooting capabilities that all depends on the one pulling the trigger.
