Here is reality. You saw a 10 and a 12 point on your property where the town says it's illegal to hunt. Great that's the law. We both agree the town ends somewhere right?
Man.......you just don't get it. Not only have I told you 10 times already that I wouldn't shoot a deer that will come up and eat from my hand........but even if I wanted to I couldn't hunt those deer. It is illegal. The woods they live in is in the middle of a suburban town where you can't even discharge a weapon, let alone hunt. That's it. The woods don't lead to other woods......they don't funnel to a huntable location. The deer would have to walk about 10-15 miles down open paved roads and cross multiple 6 lane busy streets and the interstate just to get anywhere near huntable ground. I know you want desperately to believe that I could hunt these deer but just don't know how (and you do)..........but it ain't happening.
There is plenty of huntable land out there for me to try and get permission for without banging my head against the wall trying to come up with a way to hunt where it is illegal to hunt.
I'm not going to spell out to you other ways of getting permission to hunt.
I never asked you to..........and I don't need you to.
I've pointed out many of times how I gain permision through casual conversation. Be it at a bar, party or social event. Those are only a few. I know of 3 other ways I will keep close to my chest just like a person holding a straight flush with all in.
I see a couple hundred people in my office every week.......I have worked my way into plenty of opportunities and have no problems breeching the subject........Hell I ran into a guy in Applebee's two weeks ago that I haven't seen in 10 years. 5 minutes into the conversation I had permission to hunt on his brothers land about 1/2 hour from my home. Should be nice but he only has 5 acres and I have to go see what my options are surrounding it. The lady that cuts my hair FINALLY caved in and said I could hunt her parents land this year (potential jackpot).......they have 40 acres that borders 240 of a farm that she says she has known since she was a girl and he will let me hunt his land too. I have to visit a farmer in the spring that is kicking all the trophy hunters off his land because they aren't killing any does.........the farm I killed my buck on this year has tons of potential for more opportunities now that we have shown we are responsible and nice guys.
Don't worry about me dude........I am working it 24-7. Just don't give me the stink-eye when I tell you that finding someone to open there land up to a bunch of guys is not easy around here........if I could take a couple guys to every place I have permission to hunt alone I wouldn't even be looking anymore.........some day I will hit the right guy on the right day.
Don't look at it as a no win situation
When did I say it was a no win situation?? Look at it from my point of view for a second. I am the one out there all year with my nose to the ground looking for land and I know what it is like around here........but I have to read about how I just don't know how to get it done and how I can really hunt deer that are in my own yard only I don't know it.........well, that gets old real fast.........especially from someone that knows nothing about where I live or the land I hunt.
