There would be no difference between regular production firearms between Walmart and your local Gunshop. Now when Remington and Leupold sold their souls to the Devil(Walmart) their quality went right down the tube , any doubts see Rifleman scopes and compare a 700 built in the mid 80's with current production.
oldelkhunter, what don’t you understand about quality? Each manufacturer has different classes of scopes. For an example, take a look at Bushnell’s Sportman scopes and their Elite series. The Leupold Rifleman scope is of poorer quality compared to their other scopes.
There seems to be a heavy toll in quality when you have to sell stuff to Walmart maybe thats why they like their Chinese sellers so much.
Last time I looked, Gander Mountain was selling BSA scopes. They’re made in China. I also have a Winchester knife made in China. I suggest you take a look at your shoes. You’re so oblivious; many items are made in foreign countries.
They don't discount Remingtons and Brownings and Rugers that much but probably buy in such bulk which beats up quality that they make their money that way and in the process affect the product that everyone else gets.
The manufacturer sets quality control. Wally World has nothing to do with it. Take a look at Sako, Tikka and Benelli they set their quality much higher than Remington.
I would love to be able to buy guns from Wal-Mart at Wal-Mart prices but Wal-Mart does not sell guns in its California stores.
Firearms and ammunition are only obtainable at Wally World stores licensed to sell firearms.
Blah Blah Blah thats why the corporations that sell guns to them and everyone else need to have their products cheapened. You dont see Sakos sold at a Walmart do you yet?
Walmart sells Weatherby Mark V rifles. That’s unquestionably an expensive rifle. The Wally World near me has a special order gun book at the sporting goods counter. If it's in there, they will order it for you. Prices listed look excellent.
It was a weatherby vanguard and it cost 365 in a 300 wsm ..lprice that out at Walmart. Before that it was a Remington 700 SS BDL for 575 price that out at Walmart.
oldelkhunter, I guess you missed out on Wally World’s clearance on some rifles.
Our firearms because of Walmart are inferior to what they were 20 years ago and they are a big cause of the problem..
The steel in the majority of today's mass produced rifles is far better-quality to the top rifles offered 50 years ago. Today's inexpensive Wally World specials are superior than most of the custom rifles of 30 years ago. Modern manufacturing, quality control, design, and materials are so far enhanced. People used to think one inch groups were extraordinary. Nowadays it’s common, even from moderately inexpensive guns. Fifty years ago, people would be impressed if you got more than 80,000 miles on a vehicle, and they'd be in awe at how well you took care of it. Today, we more often than not buy used cars with that many miles on them and drive them for years longer. I'd be interested to know how much the prices of rifles have altered over the years and why. I am 17 years old, and I’m intrigued when wiser guys like you speak of the older rifles and the differences in excellence that I may have missed.
Thanks to them we have the 710.
Remington created the 710 because they wanted to compete with the Savage lineup. Some people can’t manage to pay for the higher price rifles, so they buy less expensive ones. The Model 710 fills a niche that has been begged to be filled for rather a lengthy time now.
oldelkhunter, what are your thoughts on the Spartan lineup? Is this Wally World’s fault?
