Default SO. ILL FOOD PLOTS

I'm going to start a few plots in Johnson county. Does anyone have any experience with the soil down there? Any tips as to what grows well and attracts deer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to use an old dried up pond area as the main plot as there aren't really any trees to speak of which would need to be removed. The only ones there are small and could be torn out via chain and ATV or 4WD. We've got a 160 acre field across the road which will probobly be corn this year (if not corn, it'll be soy bean). The 50-60 tillable acres on our property will be corn this year. For atleast the last 5 years the tillable and field across the road have been soy beans. Prior to that it was corn, corn, corn and there were many more, larger bodied deer around, especially bucks.

There will be some corn left up after harvest.
