Without a doubt, we have the most success in July and August
set up on alfalfa and beans. Here, during the month of July, deer
just
pound the soybeans while the plants are still tender.
As summer goes on the beans get too high (as we've learned
from experience!) and it makes it almost impossible to get
pics along the field edges. So, we move our cameras to alfalfa
and they seem to love it just as much
.
If I had to pick just one food source though it would be alfalfa.
From our experience it seems as though deer will pass several
fields of corn or beans just to get to it.
Overall, I think my favorite pics come from scrape setups during
the pre-rut, rut and post-rut.
