RE: haul out your kill
we have alot of logging roads/other roads on all our properties, so its just a matter of dragging them to the nearest road or downhill to a pasture or open area that we can get an ATV to. i shot a doe during early rifle season, gutted her out, dragged her to a field maybe 35 yards away, and then i loaded her on the four wheeler to take down to the truck. ATV's make the world alot easier.
and about the truck idea, we usually use the four wheelers when possible, as they can get in those places you dont dare take a truck. however, most of our logging roads at our place in iowa are probably 6 inches wider on each side of a Z71 Chevy. we take our trucks right in the woods when the ground isnt too bad. But 90% of the time, we pre haul the deer with an ATV to a spot where they can be picked up with a truck
