Smaller WMU's won't help unless the PGC starts to assign additional carrying capacity to non-forested habitat. WMU 2 G is the largest WMU and it is 90% forested. Dividing it into smaller units would not increas the OWDD goals for these smaller WMU's.


Here are the sizes and compsition of each WMU along with the OWDD as of Jan.2003 . Compared the OWDD in the WMU's located adjacent to 2 G and you will see the habitat is capable of carrying a lot more than 12 DPSM ans still provide adequate regeneration.

Also ,note that 5C and 5B have the second and third lowest OWDD's in the state even though they have some of the best habitat. Then compare those OWDD's to those OWDD's for 2B and 1A and 1B.
