Default RE: Jaeger the Retrieving Pointing Lab

He's from Final Approach Retrievers in Indiana and among his relatives are:

GMPR Ford's Full Bore Diesel
GMPR Jypsey's Black Magik
GMPR Bonkerjohn Kate
GMPR Baxter Bing

The more I know about pointing labs, the more these names show up in different pedigrees. I've been following Knutson as close as possible, with the exceptions of gunfire and formal obedience introduction. I've already introduced him to gun fire on a hunch I had after having him at a rifle range (in the car, muffled shots). After his reaction, or lack thereof, I took him afield for walks with a gun. From 40 yards out he did well until I was firing directly over him - it didn't phase him a bit, thankfully.

I've also got him doing some more serious obedience training and field work for his age. It's more a necessity of where I live, the fact that he's an indoor dog, and my young kids in his environment. I've tried to step up his training with Knutson's advice in mind to monitor his attitude. So long as he's enthusiastic about going out to do training, I keep at it with him. I'm just hoping that my early efforts don't come back to bite me in the a$$.
