If it is, indeed a .30/06, you likely have one of the 1909s that Century Arms couldn't sell in the original 7.65x53 Mauser. They rechambered them to .30/06, just ran a .30/06 reamer into the chamber, and lengthened it. UNFORTUNATELY, the bore diameter is still .311 or so, not the .308 diameter that is standard for US thirty calibers. These are a crap shoot, some will shoot .308 bullets well, some are mediocre, and some flat will not shoot them at all. If it doesn't shot well, try handloading a .30/06 case with .311 diameter bullets...kind of a .31/06!
