Default RE: NANTUCKET- LATE HUNT

Hi everyone. This is my first post here, but I have some info to share. I went to the Feb hunt on Nantucket, and it was a nightmare. I'll start at the beginning....

Myself and three friends decided to hunt Nantucket together. Luckily, we got an early start with reservations and stuff. We stayed at the Roberts house Inn. Nice place, but not what I would call fancy. We paid a little under $500 for two rooms, two nights. We were told that we could not have four people in one room, so we needed two rooms. We made reservations with the Steamship Authority. What a scam. First we called and identified ourselves as hunters. This was around January 10. They told us that they had NO room for February 6. I later called back, and made no mention of hunting......I was asked, "Would you like the 2:30 boat, or the 5:30?" . We reserved a spot on the 2:30. HOWEVER......we were told that there is NO room for a truck....SUV's only. OK, so I used my wife's vehicle, at least we got a boat ride to the island. Then, we were charged a grossly inflated amount of $320.00 for the vehicle, and $28.00 for each hunter. The regular (non-hunter raping) rate for a vehicle is $100 less.

Opening day, we were ready at sunrise in the area of Madaket. Soon after the sun came up, the lead started flying. Buckshot was flying only feet above my head.....and this was in an open field!!! I promptly moved on to another spot. Shortly after getting comfortable, a hear a deer crashing through the woods toward the open field. I ready my shotgun, and along comes a nice sized deer. I fire a few shots at the running deer, it runs about 150 feet and stops. The deer looks as if it's about to drop, when to Hunyucks stand up from behind two lone shrubs, and promptly GUN DOWN the deer. The deer hits the ground, and get this.....THEY KEEP SHOOTING IT!!! I thought about arguing over ownership of the deer, but I really didn't want to eat lead burgers, and shredded meat. There were several other incidents but I'm ouuta time.
