I also have a traditions,50 cal.24" barrel w/1in48 twist. I usually shoot 45 cal.240 gr or 300 gr w a sabot. I changed my over to use small rifle cartridge primers instead of caps or 209 primers. It also has a waater proof cover to protect the primer in the way it is made. You can purchase these kits from dixie gun works. With instructions,one needs to rethread the barrel for this device. i use small rifle magnu;m primers. vangunsmith
