Are the .300 Savage and the .300 Win Mag camparable or is the .300 Win Mag a much more potent round -

I have just gotten into high power rifles a couple of years ago and am not sure about all the different calibers and rounds available.

In WNY where I do most of my hunting it is shotgun only for deer and there isn't any real Big game like elk around. I use a Remington 870 with 3" Mag Federal Slugs for whitetail.

Here's one more question - Every time I shoot Remington Ammo - Slugs in particular out of my 870 it jams- but I can use Federal, Winchester, Berneke - None jam ?
