I've been eyeballing the Springfield 1911-A1s also. I've had a Gold Cup Mk IV Series 70 since the early 1980s and love it to pieces for target work, but it would be nice to have a travelling companion also that could digest a steady diet of hardball without worry.

Sounds like most of you guys that have one think pretty highly of it. I haven't bought a handgun since 1987 or so; I just might have to take the silly California test for handgun buyers, get the certificate and buy me one of these!
