Default RE: What are the most accurate factory rounds?

TruthSeeker, I know what your asking without getting into the whole philosophical answer. What ammo IMHO probably performs the best in most guns? Right?

I would say hands down, it goes to Federal and Hornady. I have measured thier ammo and their brass (federal that is) and it is very uniform and quality very good. You do need to shoot several of thier offerings however, but almost always thier Sierra bullets shine thru over the bearclaws, barnes, or any other. I hear people say all the time, that Coreloks shoot the best out of their gun. But usually these people have never tried anything else. I have wieghed coreloks bullets and thier standard deviation in wieght and shape is huge. Then to top it off, the brass is worse. The shoulders are all over the place and the flash holes need to be deburred. I bet at there ammo plant in arkansas, they use this same brass that I get from them without reuniforming or deburring that flash hole.

Lastly, for weatherby rounds, I notice that weatherby ammo does the best. I think they must use a blend of powders to reach thier velocity out of thier guns. Cause, its hard to match the factory numbers and the overall quality seems good.
