I got a Mil-Spec 1911-A1 last year for 400 and it's been a great little shooter. Once I found a load it likes, it will cut tiny groups all day long. So it's accurate, sturdy, time proven, and simple to break down ................. sounds like the perfect beast for what you're wanting to do with it.
