870 supermag or Nova?
My in-laws are wanting to get me a new shotgun for my graduation in May, and I am torn between the new Rem 870 Super-Mag, and the Benelli Nova. I want a 12 gauge that is chambered for the 3.5 because I would like the extra power and range for spring Turkey, deer, and geese. I will be using eihter though with 2.75 on clays, doves, and quail much more than anything else (especially clays).
I like the 870 because I am intimately familiar with them. Everyone has them. That is also one of the downsides. But every rifle I have is also a Remington.
I like the option for the recoil reducer in the Benelli, and a lot of the other inovations, such as the one piece moisture resistant synthetic stock and receiver. It would be really nice when we head to the gulf for geese and duck.
I dunno, I'm sure you can tell I'm torn. Just for the record, either would be a vast improvement against my Mossburg Mav 88. It is a wonderful bird gun, but I am tearing it up at the clay range. I just feel I insult every target I hit with it.
Help.
