unlike most people, as soon as the ice is gone i am fishing shallow water. im sure there are fish deep and probably more of them but i have plenty of luck fishing shallow.

example- last year feb 21st, 1st day of open water I caught a 14lb 5 bass limit in less than 3ft of water in 1.5hrs.
this year Jan 3rd, first day of open water I caught one pushing 6lbs and several shorts all in less than 3 ft of water in less than 1hr.
