It was tough hunting today. Hot weather and lots of my favorite areas where closed due to high fire danger. The dogs worked super hard in some rough country. We managed to scratch down 2 blue grouse, and 7 Mountain quail. My springer did very well on quail. She found several that I did not know I had hit. The lab made a classy retrieve on a blue grouse that had its wing broke. She chased it down a near vertical slope and brought him back alive. For there first day back to hunting since late Jan. they did super. I plan on going again in a few days. Good luck to all.
