RE: Bobcat snared tonight....
I wish we didn't have so many. They decimated the quail crop on our ranch this year. We had an unusually wet year in 2004 and I guess they have fed well due to the population of rabbits and quail. Although we have lots of coyotes too, the cats are much harder on the quail than the coyotes. Since early fall we started seeing the tell tale sign of feather piles all over the ranch. Predator control is definitely a requirement for game management.
We also have the long tailed cats (Cougar) in this area but thankfully we've not seen any sign of them on our ranch. Two ranches over from our ranch they are actively trying to bait one in as they have had several goats killed over the last 5 or 6 weeks. I sure don't want any part of that!
