So far 8 have preferred elk and 3 have preferred moose, with the rest either no preference or don't know...

I was lucky enough to kill both an elk and a moose in 2004, so I can make a direct comparison...

I've found that I'm enjoying the elk more than the moose, despite the fact that the elk is a little on the tough side and the moose is very tender.. This is because the elk was a mature bull ( 6 point) while the moose was a young bull, probably a two year old.. The elk has a much more distinct flavor, while the moose is very mild.... I prefer a full flavored meat...

Now even better than EITHER ( or any other game I have tried) is CARIBOU, at least to my palate... All the caribou I've eaten has been taken in early to mid September and has been fat and delicious... I've never tried to eat rutting bull caribou, but I've heard that if you take them during the rut they are not fit to eat...
