Although I own two M70s and love them, my next rifle will be the Ruger Stainless RS, mainly because it has back-up iron sights. It only takes one time in the back country with a damaged scope to make a believer out of you. All you need is a large washer or quarter to remove the scope and you're back in business in a few minutes. No smooth barrels for me!
