I wouldn't hesitate to have a pro shop check out the bow. The last thing you need is to have a limb let go while you are drawing it back. If it cost you $10-$15 it'll be well worth it and if you bought the bow from a local shop you might find out they'll look it over for less then that.

I look at it like this, A trip to the ER for stiches on the forehead will cost you more the $15.00.
