A hog's sense of smell is excellent. So, yes be worried about YOUR smell as you would with deer, if not more. Play the wind. They can hear well when they want to,...like when they're spooked or when they want to pay attention. While they're rootin around and eatin, it's pretty easy to stalk 'em and get close, really close! Be knocked and ready all the time! Even walkin to and from your stand.

Wild hogs can be great tasting. So far, every sow that I've eaten, has been excellent! I've had very good and very bad experiences with boars, so just try it and then let us know how it turned out.

One more thought, if a hog happens to square off at you, and you think he's gonna charge you.....................take the shot! Just aim in front of the shoulder at the base of the neck(like the chest area)toward the opposite ham if possible. Beware the scene will be graphic! You wouldn't believe how much red fluid can come out a hog's nose. I've only done this once but he didn't go 10 yards. After that experience, I'll take that shot every chance I get.

GOOD LUCK!!!!
