RE: Leupold VXII Scopes
The VXII should cost more than the VariX II. I believe its twice the scope. As optics is what I do( but in the telcom industry), this coating they refer to is dog cheap to do, but the machinery to do it cost several million. What they are doing is matching the index of refaction with air so the reflective loss is lowest. Or trying too. I just can't believe they charge that much extra to do both sides and the concave lenses inside. I mean with the volumn they put out, they have already paid for the machinery. So the rest is gravy.
I laugh when I saw people out there buying up all those VariX II's 10s at a time thinking they would make money on them. I see the same guys at the range trying to sell them telling me they are better than the VXII's when they don't know a thing about Multicoat-4. Needless to say, one loudmouth I know, can't get rid of the ones he bought.
