any obstruction on the bottom, like the fallen tree, is a good spot ..the best bait to use is missouri minnows..i don't use a bobbber unless i'm fishing with more that one pole. you can throw a bale of hay in the pond and the fish will cover it..I live on the St. Johns river in central fl., some of the best speck(crappie to some) fishing in the country and right now they are biting like crazy..a lot of 12-13 inchers have been caught, that's a nice fish..good luck
