This board is great. Thanks all for your replies and advice. I think I am leaning on a cheapie type of recurve as he is pretty young and a little on the timid side. He loves to shoot his nerf bow but this will be a new world for him. (I know he will love it because he will watch me shoot and he makes pretend he is shooting as well)

I can't wait till it gets warmer and I can go out and shoot again. I may have to get him his bow early so he can shoot with me once this snow melts off.
