Centering the pin or pin guard is acceptable. In the past, most recommended centering the pin. Nowadays, more are recommending centering the pin guard. I have always centered the pin guard. A pin guard that is very close in diameter to the hole in your peep (when viewed at full draw) is easier to consistently center, than a much smaller pin, IMO.
