Default RE: 300 WBY Recipes

I haven't loaded that particular bullet in my .300 Weatherby Sako, but I have loaded some other 165 gr. bullets, so I'll list a couple loads that have worked for me:

Powder: H1000 91 grs. Max
Bullet: 165 gr. Hornady SST
Brass: Norma
Primer: Fed215M

There are faster loads, but that one was very accurate in my rifle.

Powder: RL22 84grs. max
Bullet: 168 gr. Barnes TSX
Brass: Norma
Primer: Fed215M

This load produced a little over 3300 fps and was plenty accurate.

I would definitely recommend trying IMR 7828 too. That powder has worked well with just about every bullet I've ever tried in my .300 Wby. It generally produces the best combination of velocity and accuracy. I've used it lately with the Barnes TSX and it works just as well as RL22, although it's just a tad slower.

As always, start your charges lower and work up. Your maximum load may be more or less than I listed since all rifles are different.

One more thing, I generally seat my bullets out as far as my magazine will allow, which is about 3.65". Seems to help in the accuracy department, although it's still well off the lands.
