An effective trap for fox is to dig a hole with post hole diggers about 3 ft deep and install a stove pipe in the vertical hole. Place a baby chick in the bottom of the stove pipe, the peeping will call the fox to the hole , he goes in and eats the chick and cannot back out of the pipe. But beware, the pipe needs to be taped shut with duct tape to keep pipe together while extracting and dispatching the fox.

To remove the fox from the trap you hold him by the tail and remove the whole pipe at one time with fox in the pipe. you push the fox away from you until his head is exposed. Then immediatly dispatch (kill) it by whatever method you prefer. I use an iron bar to the head. But check with your local wildlife officer to insure that this is legal where you are at. Some folks will actually relocate the live fox and not harvest it.
