Winchester model 88 was also a lever gun that was avalible in .243. Also Sako made one for a while, "Finwolf" I think they called it.

I bought a used Savage 99 in .300 savage last summer and used it to kill a moose, a white-tail and two wolves. It shoots very nice small groups and can hold 6 shots when full. Like everyone I prefer to use one shot for a quick kill but it is sometimes nice to have fast follow up shots.
