I totally agree that the .270 is more than enough for even big elk. I have used the .270 on elk since I started hunting elk and it has worked everytime. One large cow had a 140gr failsafe go through her right shoulder and exit right behind her ribs on the other side. Federal loads a 140gr. trophy bonded bear claw at 3100fps. and it's endorsed by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. If it's good enough for them then it's good enough for me.
