I buy bulk ag lime from a quarry here in Kansas. There is a quarry about every 30 miles in every direction. It is $6 per ton. I use a small pickup and just tell the guy to give me a couple dollars worth of lime in the back, I get about half a ton and it's put in there with a f.e.l. Then I give the guy a few bucks and I'm on my way.

The most efficient way for me to spread it is with a leaf blower. One person drives the vehicle and another blows lime out the back wih the leaf blower. Mind you, I'm doing several acres. If you have a 1/4 acre or less plot it would probably be easier to just used bagged lime.
