The Model 70 is a GREAT rifle but in all honesty I wouldn't rank it above the 700. If the 70 was so good why did Winchester change it in 65? The Model 70 owes its life too the same force that the 270 Win does, Jack O'Connor. In all honesty his personal favorite caliber was the 7Mauser. I think were he alive today without the great mags and a proper 280, his favorite would've been the 7-08. I have never understood the fascination with the thought that you MUST have a winged, 3pt safety or otherwise you own an unsafe firearm. Total bunk IMHO.
The Mauser 98 yep it should be there, probably above the 70 and 700 alike as neither would be around were it not for the Mauser to begin with.
Model 12, YEP it was THE pump of the century until the 870 showed up. I suspect the 12 was picked over the 870 for sentimental reasons more than anything else, can probably say the same for the 70.
Remington 1100? Whose crackpipe were they takin hits from?

Again, like the 70 if the 1100 was so good why was the 11-87 used to replace it? There are MANY autos I would pick over the 1100. If I was going to put an auto shotgun in the top 10 the first absolute pick would HAVE to be the A-5. Plain and simple!
Model 29? Damn right, it moderninzed the U.S.' law enforcement officers nationwide until the 70s when autos began showing up in the largest cities! Most 29s are, were TACK DRIVERS besides being built like anvils.
Model 94? Again a simple sentimental pick. John Browning built this rifle amazingly well, but it was the best he could do with the given 1800s technology. The Marlin is a MUCH better levergun all the way around when talking about "old school" lever guns. (The BLR is the Formula 1 of levers I suppose?)
Model 700? See my first paragraph but I honestly wouldnt put either the 700 or 70 as the #1 pick.
Benelli autoloader? Which one? They are great and I am gonna use my H&K era Benelli Montefeltro Super 90S 12 in the morning for ducks. But I wouldnt put it on the list of THE top 10 of all time. Again I think the A-5 deserves more recognition than anyother auto shotgun.
XP100? A fine gun in deed but again come on, TOP 10? Me thinks not!
870? Toughest pump ever built hands down. It has paid it way handsomely for Remingtons coffers. I suspect it should properly be in the Top 10, good call.
Like I said, how you CANT solidly put the A-5 in the top 10 is beyond me. John Browning wrote the book with this one. And its funny that to begin with it wasnt even a Browning or Winchester when new. Mr. Browning had a falling out with Winchester as they wouldn't import his "A-5" at first. So he got Remington to do it and it was known as the Model 11. They superceded the A-5 by a few years, but they are practically NEVER mentioned.
Now how in the hell can you NOT put the 1911 on the top 10 list? A John Browning creation yes.
The Glock, its THE toughest auto pistol in the world. Like em or leave em they are THE world market leader by a HUGE margin for a reason. Their impact on the gun market should be noted.
What about the Henry repeater? It is partially responsible for the westward settlement of our nation.
Someone mentioned the 870 as being the most built gun, maybe domestically but on the world wide market scene its not even close. The AK-47 holds that honor by more than 6 fold over the 870. Mr. Kalashnikov (sp) is Russia's answer too John Browning (if thats possible, look at the guns we are talking about and a majority are Mr. Brownings creations!) and his gun continues to rule the world in most non western societies.
Might also mention Mr. Gatlin's contribution too our modern society. Without it we wouldv'e been 50 years later in growth, at the earliest.
Thats just a few I could come up with that were missing and of historical significance,
