Hand cleaners like D & L from Permatex will slowly erode/thin the barrel walls. Stuff like that isn't much different than JB Bore Paste. I would bet that the percentage of lanolin found in it is either real small (or) it's used to soften the harsh chemicals needed to remove grease/grime from automotive hands. I'll pass on that one. However, I liked the website & may join-in on the discussion there.
