Default RE: 3 days in Iowa (PICS)

I saw that pic and it reminded me of this one sent to me by a farmer friend in North East Iowa from this year.

I know the story about this one ... it was from opening day of shotgun first seaon this year. He has a picture like this form every opening day of shotgun for as many years back as I can count. I saw that picture before going to hunt this farm and thought there would have to be a very negative effect to taking that many bucks. The truth is there isn't. If they shot 3 times as many bucks opening day they would have been fine. The family owns and hunts over 10,000 acres spread out over 2 towns. While bow hunting there we saw multiple mature deer each day and every hot doe in the area had more than 1 racked buck chasing her. They do shoot a lot of does over the course of the season, but the deer herd is very large. As farmers they lose tons of crops every year to deer. Almost all pictures like these are from guys that drive deer, and any buck with a really trophy rack has probably figured out a way to slip the net. Though they do shoot some really big deer by my NorthEast standards.
