I found a deal on a savage 300 win mag. It has a comp stock, stainless W/porting. Has a reasonable 3-9X40 and overall is pretty clean. The Texas hill counrty Deer are not all that big. I typically have used or seen guys use .260, .270, 30-06. but is the 300 win mag way to much? I don't need much of a push to buy it just wondering. I bet it would be great for some of the bigger hogs running around.
I already have a .270 and a .260 in bolt action long guns, have a lever action brush gun in .357 for the open sight close up days. My safe could use that bigger round
