ive taken alot of shots offhand, and i usually only use it when i have to make the shot quick or i absolute have to because of low vegatation. Try and take a knee if possible, or lean your arm against a tree. keep the gun tight to your shoulder. try to calm your breathing. In a stand, get a padded rail or a Level Lok. I can't imagine using shooting sticks for deer, as i think they would just take up too much space in the day pack.alot of times in spots where i could actually use them, i just try and lie prone. shooting prone is by far the deadliest position when you're shooting at a deer.
