RE: Have you ever seen deer mating (breeding) in the wild while on a hunt?
I saw two deer pass my stand before daylight. I thought the first deer was behind me, my head was itching, so I scratched my head. The deer saw me somehow and spooked. It later started raining and I got out of my treestand and stillhunted towards the deer.
I saw the doe and an 8 pointer about 150 yards away. It was pouring rain, but I tried to make the shot and missed. A few minutes later the buck mounted the doe. It was the first time I have seen it happen in the wild. They ran off a little way; the buck stayed right with the doe. I shot again, and again I missed! I mouth grunted and the doe brought the buck my way. This time I did not miss the shot; the buck ran a short distance and collapsed.
A few days later I was driving up the four lane and glanced over towardds the edge of the woods and there was a buck mounting a doe! I could not believe I saw this happen twice, and in the span of a few days.
