If you're going to go with a 30-30, then a Marlin is the one to get. Good guns.
However, if you really expect shots on deer, etc. out to 175-250yds. then you should
look to another rifle/cartridge. The 30-30 is at its' best within 150yds. Suggest you look
to cartridges such as 270Win., 280Rem., 7mmRem.Mag., 308Win., 30-06, etc.
As for moose, yes, a 30-30 can do the job if the range is limited, and the shot placed
precisely, but there are better cartridges for moose, such as those noted.
