adams, I was concidering the Gold Tips until I saw what a carbon arrows could do if it let go. Me and my son are going back to good old reliable XX75 alums. I can get all the speed I need and the only plus, for me, with carbons was, they don't bend. The down side other than already stated is they are harder to fletch, MUCH harder to strip vanes off, impossible to get inserts out to shorten shaft or chage insert if damaged, and for comparable strightness the are almost twice the price[].
