...what I can't understand is that or own "fellow" sportsman can bash or have an opinion about the man and his views but how many of you will, and have, taken a stand such as him to promote and protect our sport?
Most of us "take a stand" and promote and protect our sport in a variety of ways. Simply buying tags is but one of dozens of ways we do that every day, month, year. Some of us are members of various organizations that do the same. If you are hunter that is a law-abiding citizen with a good reputation in your community, you promote and protect hunting by that also. Normal people examine those types of things as they examine you as a "hunter" or gun owner.

I do not feel that Nugent promotes and protects our sport. If anything, he endangers it by portraying hunters as "renegades" and somehow radical. That is simply not the case, and we all know that. Hunters represent a cross-section of America. We are factory workers, and architects, we are small business owners and lawyers. We are ordinary Americans. We are not all long-haired, hootin', hollering, cowboy types riding buffalos and hunting in high fence areas while shouting childish slogans to promote some barbaric macho meat-eaters-are-so-cool image.

Believe it or not, hunting can be "represented" without all the hype and in-your-face posturing he brings to the table.
