RE: Info on hearing aids, help !!!!
Sswpriz, don't know if I can help much but I thought all hearing aids produced about the same results. I have now lost all hearing in the left ear, but before the hearing went where the wild goose goes, I used an aid. I hated it. The wind noise was horrible and in a place like a bowling alley, auditorium, etc., I could not hear clearly with it. Then there was a phone problem and you need special devices if you use that ear for the phone. Then, as my hearing slowly failed, the medicos wanted me to try FM systems where the left aid would transmit to the right ear aid. This was an expensive system plus it picked up an electronic hum around such things as high-line wires and even florscent lights. Mercifully, that ear went totally deaf. The other has about 80% in the lower ranges and I no longer wear an aid. But, for gun hunting, I wear those muffs which cut off noise at about 72 decibles. The big problem now is that I have no directional hearing. I know when a gobbler is near but I can't tell which direction. So, I hunt by sight. Whatever hearing you have left, please take care of it and wear protection. You may end up with ringing. Both ears constantly, forever, never ending. If so, you will get a good lesson in "mind over matter". Good luck!
