RE: There are some deer left in NY after all...
WNY, right-o on all counts! I dont care for the crap that goes on with the nuisance permits when they get a permit that clearly states 10 animals, no bucks, and they shoot twenty, and then shoot the allotted ten and claim it. Not to mention the bucks taken. Im told I have no clue, but again, Im the taxidermist they call about how to save velvet, hahaha. I too admit we needed to take the numbers down, but Id rather see it done through hunting where WE receive the revenue, through licenses, and all hunter related usages ( sporting goods, restaurants, butchers, taxidermy, etc) rather than just wiping them out. It seems trivial to some, but they make their living elsewhere too. Once numbers are more balanced, some guys wont come back to hunting or the hunt related industry, but itll always be there for those who wanna support it. Numbers will always fluctuate. Less deer, more private trophy management and growing more cover only spells bigger bucks, in my opinion. By the way, I also raise whitetails in captivity, too.
