RE: Offical Team Buck Snipers (1) Thread
I got back last night, and the trip was horrible. Never Never Never hunt with The Laredo Hunt Club unless you are part of a large corporate outing or are filming an ESPN special. All his references speak very highly of the operation, but the references are all VIPs who get to hunt his large ranch, Rancho San Antonio. We went as two individuals and were shuffeled between three smaller ranches, when we asked him about the ranch in his ads he told us that that ranch was for his established clientelle!! My buddy and I spent a Hell of a lot of money for this hunt and I have bigger deer on my lease in West Texas than I saw on his other three ranches.
Everything that could have possibly been wrong with the hunt was. We missed the first day hunting because the outfitter had the wrong paperwork at the border, the food was horrible, we only had hot water about half the time, the blinds were old pipe racks with plywood flooring and canvas waist high with no covering and an aluminiun folding chair, and he was five hours late getting to the ranch to clear our guns to go back across the border. There are many other things wrong with the outfit that are too numerous to mention; just take my word and never hunt with them.
On the last night in camp we asked about hunting Rancho San Antonio, and that was when he told us that ranch was for his established clientelle; he also told us we could come back and hunt in January, but we would be hunting the same ranches we were already hunting. My buddy and I went back to our cabin and I told my buddy I was not interested in coming back and I was going to shoot the first buck I saw the next morning and get back across the border; he agreed and said he was not interested in coming back in January, or ever again for that matter. We shot the first two deer we saw, mine was a 2 1/2 year old ten and his was a 3 1/2 year old six.
