RE: Finally Evidence of cougar in IL.
I was talking to the owner down at the local archery store and I guess they think the cat ended up dieing from dehydration caused by the would. Figure he lost a bit of weight before dieing from just water loose and not eating and you could probably add 15+ pounds to his carcass weight. Young cat, judging by his mouth but maybe not... The wound was a pretty old wound. The is about 40 miles as the crow flies from where I live and it has caused a bit of interest. There are still reports of sittings and sheep kills being dragged away. This is not dog behavior. Is is true or just people playing off the story? Who knows but it makes me think sometimes.
Side not, I read in a local article that his ears had been nibled on, not by rodents mind you but something else. According to the eprson interviewed that is sometimes the result of courtship/breeding behavior.. I have no idea if the person knew what she was talking about but interesting never the less. Wolves, cats...Maybe I should just move back West.
