Think about it ...a yearling? A deer in it's first year of life. I really dont care what anyone calls them wherever your from , makes no difference , but dont tell me it's not a regional thing.
Actually, the definition of a yearling is, from Webster, "an animal in it's
second year of life" or, "a horse one year old dating from January 1 of the year
after the year of foaling", or in other words, a horse in it's second year of life. If it's a regional thing, than the entire region is misusing the word. But, no big deal, just trying to clear it up. As long as you know that when biologists and deer managers use the term yearling, they are talking about deer between 1 and 2 years old, not fawns.
They all taste good.
