Default RE: Hawkens 100yd accuracy

Most of my sidelocks will not do that good for me. I can average between a 3-4 inch group off a bench rest with my .50 & .54 calibers shooting a variety of different projectiles. My .58 caliber will do a much better job of grouping with 100 grains of Goex FFg and a .570 patched roundball. The .58 caliber has a 1:70 Green Mountain Barrel and has to be one of the most accurate of all my rifles.

My long distance shooting I am sure has a lot to do with the iron sights and old eyes... I really just do not see as well as I used to. Even though they claim corrected it is 20/20 somehow my eyes refuse to believe that.

Last winter I was able to keep all the shots at 100 yards in the bottom of a #2 coffee can off shooting sticks. I was real pleased with that group to be honest. Of course with the scoped rifles I can do a much better job. Even the RED DOTs seem very accurate.
