Default RE: New rifle and ammo.

Congrats on your new play toy. .25-06 is one caliber I'd really love to have. I've actually thought a lot about having a custom M700 built chambered in .25-06 Ackley Improved, with a medium-heavy contour fluted barrel with a nice McMillan sporter stock. It'd make a GREAT long range varmint/predator rifle, but also be a practical rifle for putting deer in the freezer. I personally feel the .25-06 is a great crossover caliber. Does burn a lot of powder for a prairie dog rifle, but if one had a .223 or 22-250 for short range/high volume dog blasting, and saved the 25-06 for dialing long distance, it'd work out great. And it's much better for lighter thin skinned big game like deer and antelope than the 6mm's. Light recoil too. It's a win/win caliber to be sure.

Enjoy!
