The 870 doesnt have to be drilled and tapped. Simply get a "saddle mount" type scope mount. They mount over the reciever using existing holes and can be removed without affecting the scope. I put one on my 870 SuperMag lastyear with a red dot and full of Nitros, I killed two birds in southern MO. One @ 50yds and one @ 65yds. The mount costs less than $50 and can be had for many shotguns, Brownings, Benelli's, Beretta's etc...

The only thing wrong I can see with that thumbhole stocked scattergun is the same with all thumbholes. They aren't ambidextrous. Especially when using a scoped turkey gun, you are shooting it like a rifle. So you can shoot it off either shoulder after only a little practice. You cant shoot a thumbhole lefthanded, well you can but that "blade" on the stock will be painful on your jaw when rocked by a 3.5" turkey load. The Benelli was a pistol grip instead of a thumbhole type and works great on either shoulder. Being able to fire from either shoulder is a TREMENDOUS asset in both turkey hunting and tree-stand/deer hunting. Moving a gun is MUCH easier and wiser than trying to move your entire body into position when they "SUDDENLY appear on the wrong side".

For the money the SuperMag 870 is unbeatable. If I were getting an auto tomorrow it would probably be the Beretta Extrema with the new Benelli Super Eagle II being a VERY close 2nd!
